I was chatting with Andrea this afternoon and she sent me a link to a podcast that she did with Rue Morgue magazine for their Women in Horror profiles about her recently published book When There's No More Room in Hell: the Sociology of the Living Dead. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read her book yet but I'm even more excited after hearing her talk about it today. Admittedly, I am really not a horror fan at all but I am a religious studies minor and that aspect is really as interesting as the film analysis, I think, and I hope Andrea doesn't mind that I'll probably read those parts with much more enthusiasm. Actually, the weekend that I went to Toronto for her book launch I was reading an ethnography about a Voodoo priestess living in New York and it was cool to make some connections. Those places where religion and sociology intersect seem more and more important to me lately and I only wish I knew more.

This is the podcast.

Honestly, I got goosebumps hearing Andrea on this podcast. She is so smart and eloquent and inspiring. Andrea Subissati: "bonafide force of nature". Couldn't have said it better. Miss you, lady.
